Day Twenty

I have pretty much normalized in terms of scabs on my body. My face is looking better, however I have a long way to go until I am normal again. I have been using Mederma on a daily basis to hopefully decrease the chances of scarring.

I have an appointment with a dermatologist at the end of November. Hopefully they will determine if a laser skin regiment is required.

I will post here once every couple of weeks.

I really hope these posts will help out other Chicken Pox "survivors", it's really not all that bad (once you get over it).

Day Fourteen

I haven't posted in a few days as I had to leave for New Orleans. I have about 10 or 11 small scabs left around my body. Other than that, I am healing well. I am using Mederma to reduce the redness of all the dots, mainly on my face.

Day Eleven

I am using Mederma and Neosporin religiously. I think it is already helping. Most of my scabs have fallen off and it looks like I have major acne. Hopefully the mederma will lessen the redness of the scabs soon :). I have to go to New Orleans for the weekend, so people are just going to have to stop and stare.

Day Ten

Today I bought Mederma, Neosporin and Vitamin E oil to help with the scarring and the scabs. I have covered myself in Vitamin E and Neosporin to help the scabs fall off sooner. This is my progress at (left)

Day Nine

The scabs have started to dry up a bit more today. I was able to have a meeting with someone at work and start getting back to normal. None of the scabs have fallen off and my urges to pick is increasing. I am antsy to get back to work and back on with my life. I feel it would be hard to go out into public still. I went to my office landlords and showed them my condition so they would waive the late fee for my rent. They did.

I wish there was some way to speed up the process to make the scabs fall off. The Vaseline did nothing in my opinion, instead, i am not bathing for a couple days. The dermatologist said that greasy skin will help make my scabs heal and fall off faster.

I am hoping by Friday I will be up to snuff to go into public.

I have attached a picture of my current chicken pox cosmetic status. I couldn't decide if I should smile or not... so I did.

Day Eight

I feel 100% today, I believe I am no longer contagious as all the scabs have healed.

I talked to my dermatologist today, they said that my scabs will take a long time to fall off and heal :(. They told me to put Vaseline on all my scabs and increase the speed to the drying process. I have not returned to work yet and I still look terrible. I am going to start posting pictures onto this blog to track the progress of my looks.

I think the worst part of this is the Quasimodo type of looks and hopefully will help other people determine when they can go out and about.

Day Seven

More blisters are starting to heal. The scabs themselves are not doing much. I am still feeling flu like symptoms but the fever seems to completely gone.

Day Six

I have noticed today that some of the blisters have started to scab over. Some of the scabs are darker colored in the middle and some look like dried blood. I still have 100 or so blisters that are still contagious looking. Other than that it seems the same.

Day Five

Today has got to be the worst day, I am in terrible pain and I have blisters from head to toe including my anal region and genitals. I have a medicine regiment down.

10:00 AM - Wakeup take Goody's extra strength headache powders
260 mg Acetaminophen
520 mg Asprin
32.5 mg Caffeine

12:30 PM - Take oatmeal bath

6:00 PM - Take another Goody's to stay pepped up

11:00 PM - Take two Unisoms and another Goody's headache formula and head to bed.

(WARNING: Keep in mind because Chicken Pox is a virus there is a risk of Reyes syndrome if you take Asprin, however I am comfortable because I am an adult and not a child.)

Day Four

I barely got any sleep last night due to the pain on my scalp. I have about 40 or 50 blisters on my scalp which in combination with my hair makes it terribly painful. I soaked this morning for an hour in an Aveeno oatmeal bath (recommended). It leaves no mess in the bathtub and it feels great. I would recommend soaking your hair to make your scalp feel better as well.

My beard is starting to grow out, I obviously cannot shave due to the blisters. I have been reading online that it could take a very long time until the blisters come off from healing.
